the baltic sea...

we always have a thing for the beach... maybe it's because we live by the shore.. it's always a nice vacation to visit a beach... This village we come to every summer is a beach town... it comes alive in the summertime. People passing by everywhere cramming their beach towels and flip flops in their bike baskets... bikinis drying on clotheslines... ahhh it's summer!

Photobucket

look at that yummy blueberry ice cream cone sister lovin!
there is such a sweet little cafe on the beach called Fritidsbaren.. it's lovely! an old summer cottage selling ice creams, coffee, meatballs, beer... the man who runs it has been there since Pappa Mattias was a small boy... always calling out to the guests "Hallo Hallo... then he calls your name.." it's hilarious! we always go for a coffee and ice cream... you know a funny thing on Swedish beaches... instead of people bring water, coronas, some ice tea.. the Swedes bring thermoses of coffee and pastries, cookies... even when it's blazing HOT! Always some cute little mugs... sweating in your bikini sipping hot coffee and eating cookies... fun idea huh! maybe it's because that Baltic Sea is a tad on the chilly side...? :-)

Photobucket

ok... if any of you are thinking to visit Sweden one day... you MUST MUST MUST have one of these at Fritidsbaren!!! amazing! I might just go there 5 more times before we leave to get my fix! they are warm, flaky, not too sweet, not to bland, just perfect... and you have to have them with a cup and saucer of hot coffee!

Photobucket

so this day we came a little later in the day and the chilly winds from the sea were setting in... so we needed sweaters...

who needs television...?

great pals...

Photobucket

it's so wonderful to be great pals with someone and then you have children and then they become great friends... it's the best! you begin to wonder what a ride of a fun friendship they too will have..

Christer and Pappa Mattias have been friends since they were kids... Christer's Mamma was Mattias' teacher even... they grew up together and even when Mattias moved to the states Christer studied close by in Florida and they visited eachother.... since so long, Christer and Jessica married and they have been to our wedding, came over with their little girl Ella and now they just got a cute new boy Axel! so happy for them... a sweet family!

our little berry girl...

Photobucket

Farmor & Farfar's garden is full of little treats for the girls... from Smultron strawberries, to blackberries, potatoes, carrots, and then there is this berry bush... not sure what it is... if one of you know what it is please comment below.. Our little Cecilia has devowered this poor bush... plucking as high as she is.. it's just about bare...

Photobucket

every day when we return home she stops for a snack. They are quite tart but she gobbles them up by the hand fulls... even the unripe ones. :)

Photobucket

Photobucket

I just love the lavender lined walk way... every day I fluff the pretty purple blooms and smell my finger tips and ahhh the smells are amazing! sometimes it nice to just sit in the sun close in the blooms and listen to the bumble bees buzzing... a calm hum with the sweet scents is enough for me....

a nice visit...

Photobucket

the other day we took a little road trip to visit our friends Tom & Petra and their children... Mattias grew up as neighbors to Tom... great friends... something about great friends.. you can go a year without seeing eachother and pick up where you last left... that's when you know a true friendship. before we had kids we met Tom & Petra one summer at 12 noon I think on a Weds. under the Eiffel Tower in Paris and drove through the countryside all the way to Petra's home of Czech Republic and even through Poland... it was amazing and so fun!

Photobucket

they just had a new cutie pie, Alexander... oh his smile melted my heart... such a snuggle bug! and Cecilia thought he was quite something too :-)

Photobucket

a nice large open garden is always a fun time! summertime and big backyards kids running, kiddie pools... ahhh such fun!

Photobucket

Isabelle and Fredrik are great pals... skipping and running and giggling away... it was really funny, Fredrik's mamma is from Czech Republic and speaks Czech to her son... well Isabelle understands fully Swedish but speaks a lot in English with a tad Swedish here and there... so this little boy noticed that Isabelle was not speaking Swedish to him... so he then began to speak Czech to her... and funny thing... they both understood eachother... 3 languages spoken at once.. even Isabelle began to count in Czech... it's so cool how children, little sponges, have such a brilliant way of openly taking things in... to an adult maybe we would close a language down if we noticed it not being our own... but kids openly take it in, even if they do not understand it at first... but eventually they figure it out. it's a little bit like children not having a fear... I remember my first time skiing was when I was maybe in my early twenties... I was shaking in my ski boots as I began to go down the bunny hill... then I looked around and children not even hardly walking were zoooooming by me... giggling.. looking ahead... skis not pointed inward... just like pros... it's because they are open and have no fear or embarrassment towards something new that they do not know.... what do you guys think?

Photobucket

don't you think Pappa looks cute with a little boy...? hahahaha just kidding... :-)
