Lucia

I just love love love this special tradition that our family does each year... it really helps to tie Mattias' Swedish roots at the holiday season! St. Lucia Day!!! It's so beautiful! All the candles and the white long dresses oh it's just perfect! Isabelle got to hold a REAL candle this year!!! -you know now that she's 10! She was thrilled! It's such a simple celebration... celebrating light in the dark winter...
We make Swedish saffron buns that are oh so yummy and drink glogg and each ginger thins! This year the girls got to wake their grandparents visiting from Sweden dressed like Lucia! It was so special and a morning I think we'll all remember!
I hope you all are enjoying fun traditions and cozy nights with your families!!!

December is here...

When I was a little girl I always wanted to be that mom... the one baking cookies in the kitchen with flour on my cheeks... my kids licking the spoon of the mixer... and sometimes I find myself actually here... in my childhood dream. I love how Christmas lets us feel all of our family memories and relive them and make new ones. I love when doing so, you may just be inspiring your own children to have these little memories one day with their own children.

making teacher gifts is always so sweet... this year we made lavender sugar scrub! We used the lavender we picked while down in France!

end of summer...

oh the last days of summer... to be 7 and 10 again! Easy breezy playing with friends! getting excited for school! tea parties, sleepovers! I love these feelings...

we're back...

when we came back from being away for over a month... it felt really nice... even though we missed vacation and our family, it was so nice to be home again... There is just something about home...

last days in Sweden...

It's always hard... those last days at Grandma & Grandpa's... Knowing you won't see family for awhile... not sure when you'll be back. I often find myself wanting to go back to the first day we got there...
Vacation is my most favorite thing! I love the time off to recharge and reconnect with our family. I love seeing my girls every part of the day... Those last days are pretty sad usually... but still you have to enjoy them.
We look forward to coming home of course... even though good-byes are hard. I think they are hard because you're not sure how things will be when you return... Children get taller, friends grow older, homes change, people inside of them change, trees grow, flowers die... but we're the same....
