berry patch days...

For me childhood is about being outside freedom and in the fresh air... childhood is about grass stains and berry juice dripping from your elbows.
Today is Earth Day and I thought why not write about nature, fresh air and heck, some strawberries!

A few weeks back we met some sweet friends at a nearby farm and picked and ate berries until our bellies hurt! Farm strawberries are truly the sweetest! some almost too sweet to eat! yowch!
It was so fun to just hang out and hunt for the reddest berries of all! The kids ran up and down the aisles and squashed the rotten berries and gobbled up the sweet ones! They should really weigh the kids before and after!
Friendships are important... long lasting friendships are a treasure and I am certain these kids will grow up together and one day take their own little tribe onto a berry patch and fill their bolga baskets to the rim.
Happy Earth Day Friends!
Be nice to our Earth today and always!

Cruisin...

ok so let me just kinda start out by saying... I never wanted to go on a cruise before...
Could have been my sea sickness problem, well yes a little... but more so I didn't like the thought of being stuck on a boat for days, not seeing land, cruise people, too touristy... blah blah blah...
Let me just say... I LOVE CRUISING!!!
I'm a big fan now! It's totally amazing in so many ways!
Princess Cruise totally delivers!
We had such a relaxing time and it was really FUN!!!
We went with my parents too which was so great to have that quality time together!

Our ship was the big one to the left... the one minus the eyeball!
This view ahead is always my view... my families bums... I'm always the last one... could be because I'm fumbling around with my camera and once I'm set I look up and there they are. Why not capture this view of mine...

Our first stop was Cozumel, Mexico... from there we took a ferry to Playa del Carmen... from there a bus to Tulum! Wow, our tour guide was incredible! We learned SO much about the Mayan culture! The Mayan calendar! Iguanas! The weather! It was so fun! We learned about fish tacos and how to order and how they make the amazing iy yi yi sauce that goes inside! Tequila!
But the Mayan ruins were so beautiful! We wandered around as our girls well,... wined a bit about the heat, imagine that... but we promised them a swim at the beach which was unreal!

It's hard to see where the sky meets the sea isn't it! My favorite colors! Those blues and aquas are unreal! The water felt so nice to cool off in!

Oh man do I ever love being on vacation! I mean, who's with me!? I just love checking out new places and finding our way around. I think that is what I was afraid of with cruising is not being able to explore islands or see so much but actually it was great! Cruising now a-days is quite fun because you are able to explore and you don't have to be with the cruisey people... but they're not so bad, promise! ;-)

The next day we stopped at Costa Maya which was really nice! I heard it was very touristy which yep it sure was... but we found a little trolley, or something, not sure what it was but it was almost like a wagon with a grassy roof that we all piled into... hahaha... well we took this thing to a little "Fishing Village" about 5 minutes away and wow... now we were in Mexico! Lots of local fish and locals just you know tapping coconuts with straws for us tourists! I found a fun purse from a cool guy wearing a speedo with about 50 handbags attached to him... I love a good "how I found my purse" story! It was a really fun day with so many laughs and salty hair and kisses! My mom and dad had a blast too! lots of snorkeling and just relaxing by the shore!

Would we cruise again??? ABSOLUTELY! The last night on the boat as we were falling asleep in our tiny bunk beds (yes, lesson learned, next time a room with a balcony!) our girls started to cry... I asked what was wrong... they said they didn't want this to end!... Done Deal! Cruising is fun people! Do it! and get your cruise on! get dorky! Wear dresses with anchors on the skirts! My husband even found the channel that played non-stop Love Boat! Go to the captain's dinner and dress up, for real! Go to the art auction and maybe have a glass or two of champagne and bid on something! or maybe not! ;-) Once I swallowed my pride and dove into cruise mode and just sat by a pool all day and imagined myself all fancy like Kate Winslet and Leo Dicaprio ... but only the happy beginning parts! and lastly let me just say if you do cruise and find yourself a little on the sea sick side I cannot recommend more those little fuzzy cloth wrist sea sick bands from Target! and the most AMAZING oil EVER... Motioneaze!!! I swear this stuff is amazzzzing! a couple drops behind our ears and we were good! Seriously I get sea sick on a kayak!
This was probably one of my top 10 vacations! Totally together time and NO ELECTRONICS!!!
Ok now I must go look for cruise deals!

County Fair Fun!

Warning!
before reading:

This blog may make you start to crave elephant ears and sticky caramel apples with rainbow sprinkles... You may find yourself needing to braid your hair the way your mom did your braids when you were 8... you may also find yourself digging through the attic for your old pair of converse chucks... that pair that you scribbled your BFF's name on and that cute boy that sat in front of you. Have fun reading and remember back to your town's fair days!
the cute parts...

This day to us was maybe the best day ever!!! There was something so fun about this county fair experience that makes my face scrunch up again and again and smile big! Maybe it was the fact that we got in for only a $1 each! That helps with the stress of places like Disney World... or?
Maybe it was just that we were all in such a fun mood! Could be that I drenched us all with Doterra Essential Oils in the parking lot! hahahaha! Whatever it was, I was happy, and we made some damn fine memories this day!

These girls are fun to watch! I love how my big girl totally protects her baby sister... Isabelle watches over her and waits for her to come off of rides, out of fun houses... makes sure that little Cecilia doesn't drop her cotton candy. It's so sweet and I hope it lasts forever and ever and I also hope that they are next door neighbors and never grow up, the end! But seriously, I love them so.

matching sister chucks... makes my heart skip a beat! I always wanted a sister to matchy match with... and although I PRRRROMISE I don't make them dress alike! I swear! I will come home with something from Target for one of them and something for the other... and they are totally upset if they don't have the same thing! "Mamma, you didn't get one for Cecilia!" This will last forever right...?

If I close my eyes I can still hear them laughing... I can still feel their hands clenching mine as we criss crossed through the loud and noisy smoke filled midway. Sometimes when we are having a fun family time, I notice it, and really feel it and try to make it last and burn it into my heart! I do this every time! Because I do know, that life is fast... kids grow big even faster... but darn it I have to hang on to this time... Every time I am convinced, will be fun... even 17 year old fun... it will just be different... but as long as I feel it and breath and really enjoy it... I will tackle it with some grace!

...and can we just understand the sugar content of the county fair!
The cotton candy that fluffy sticky awesomeness that is so good that it even tends to end up in pigtail braids... yep, that good!
Cecilia had her first caramel apple this year... it's been a long time coming and she was thrilled! even with rainbow sprinkles... what!

I highly recommend going to the fair a couple of times in your child's life... I also recommend shoes and socks and a nice hot shower when you return home! This fair day to us was classic! We ended the night on the big ferris wheel and our girls silly and jacked up on sugar... they looked at us and we looked at them and smiled... the get it... we knew we held on to it the whole time and it now is burned into our hearts... chizzed in our minds like the way things are filed away in Riley's mind in the movie, "Inside Out..." Sometimes our lives are a little like a Disney movie, and that's ok... Mickey's cool!

And lastly... a little slideshow...
