a ray of sunshine...

since before I knew sweet Julien was growing inside of me the sun would shine so warm on my shoulders... on my belly... Julien's first weeks were spent basking in the French sunshine and floating in the sea and lakes...
Now that he is here I find him most happy in the sunshine...

Mother's Day

oh dear... am I ever behind on blogging... hmm wonder why. :-)
This was mother's day actually! ha!
What a feeling to have a little baby in your arms on Mother's Day! This whole newborn life is so surreal to me! I cannot believe I have another baby! I think possibly once Julien is a toddler it may just hit me! ha! I feel so lucky that this happened to us! He happened! He has made our family complete...

blueberry picking...

Julien's first family outing was something to remember...
we went blueberry picking.
What a fun adventure. It was just perfect. We set out one morning out east to a little farm. It was so quiet and still... peaceful! You could hear the bees buzzing... the breeze wooshing the trees.  My parents met us out there to fill a basket as well. The berries were just delicious! I think we ate more than we plucked but according to the farmers, that was ok. haha.
That night Cecilia told me she was so glad that Julien's first trip was to pick blueberries... it's something we would always remember.

That night after we made a blueberry pie, we had a big backyard fire with hooded sweatshirts and chocolate s'mores. I sat in a cozy chair and held Julien with the most beautiful view...

first days home...

Oh the first days... so many things reminded me of when our girls were babies... remembering so many things... Looking at our big girls holding their baby brother filled my heart to the absolute rim with love. They looked so big all at once.
They were in love... We were too...
Changing diapers on a little bum... learning to breastfeed again.. falling asleep with a little angel on my chest.

Having a baby again really reminds you about slowing life down.
You know things go fast... my God... time flies... you don't realize it but suddenly you have an 11 year old that is as tall as you and a little infant in your arms. You know you MUST slow life down or it will go by in a blink. I feel lucky to be reminded...

Midsommar!!!

One of my most favorite parties of the year... We've been celebrating Midsommar well since forever... since I met Mattias. He introduced me to this celebration and I just may love it more than he does now... Friends coming together to celebrate the longest day of the year... flowers in your hair, dancing around a midsommar pole, drinking songs, seafood. It's so dreamy.
Now with children... well that's been for awhile now... I love to keep the traditions going and spark that fire inside each of these children to make these memories and do something worth celebrating. It tends to be a wild night usually... lasts until midnight or so... kids crash asleep, drinks are spilt, flower crowns start to wilt... but these memories that we have and our children tuck inside their hearts fill my heart to the rim.

I think the best part of the night for me was when I asked the children if they could help me be the waiters and deliver the coffee and strawberries and cream... one little girl got so excited she nearly had tears in her eyes and she squeezed me tight and said, "Thank you SO MUCH Miss. Kollene for inviting us to your party!!! This is the best night ever!!!"
There that's enough for me... that's worth it!
Dinner parties are starting to fade as our children are growing... maybe it's the stress of it... the preparation, the clean up... but I really believe that it's one of the most important things in life...
Coming together as friends, family, breaking bread together and sharing delicious food at a table...
These are the memories we will have.
